Many faculty members are counting their enrollments in Canvas by manually "counting" the number of individuals in the People page and subtracting Teachers, Course Admins, and TAs. Instead. you can go to the Settings and on the right side of the page there will be a listing of the number of individuals with each role in the course. See below.
